The Samsung's pink N130 netbook is a visually much toned down version of the bright berry pink Sony VAIO we reviewed a few days back, rather understated, more elegant infact. If you're after a stark pink netbook, this one isn't going to be the one for you, unless you put a laptop skin on it.
Sporting a 160Gb disk there should be plenty of room for general web browsing, blogging and image transfers for most users, the Sony VAIO VPCW12S1E/P does sport 250Gb, but there is over one hundred pounds difference in the pricing of these two netbooks, on this point alone its not worth the extra money for the Sony and the N130 is coming out already as a far cheaper option.
The Pink N130 comes with three USB 2.0 ports and a 3-in-1 memory card reader, combine that with integrated Wifi (factory option) and a built in microphone, surfing the net and general web usage is very well catered for.
Samsung make a point of highlighting that the bulk of the components that make this pink net book are actually manufactured by them, not all netbook brands can offer this kind of statement.
They state the battery life is up to 6 hours, from the laptops I've had in the past, I'd personally say if you get 4 of these, then its doing really well, when you consider most train journeys are for only an hour or two as part of a commute, this should easily last the trip there and back again!
The package comes complete with:
- The N130 Net book (really, it does!)
- An AC Mains Adaptor
- Power Lead
- Battery
- A User Guide
In summary, its not a stark pink colour and if you're after something very bright in the pink scale, the Samsung N130 net book isn't going to be the one for you. However, there is over £100 price difference between this one and the Sony VAIO, laptop skins are silly-cheap nowadays and for a compromise in hard disk space and twenty pounds for a fancy skin, I'd plum for this model. Or.... if you like the understated pink look and feel to the N130, don't bother with the skin and save the money for some accessories, like a pink laptop carry bag. |
